Fin 2004, les frères Delecroix ont déjà joué ensemble dans plusieurs groupes sans pour autant avoir pu assouvir leur soif de scène. Depuis plusieurs années, Sean officie à la batterie, Manf à la guitare. Ils décident alors de monter un groupe aux influences variées en vue de partager leur musique. Parallèlement, Yo, fraîchement débarqué sur Toulouse, cherche à intégrer un groupe en tant qu'auteur interprète. Armé de sa seule plume, l'écriture est la voie qu'il privilégie pour exprimer le doux optimisme qui l'anime malgré une révolte sous-jacente. Il mettra avec Slaene l'énergie explosive de son chant au service de ses textes. De son côté, JC, bassiste autodidacte, souhaite explorer de nouveaux répertoires musicaux au contact de musiciens à priori attirés par d'autres styles musicaux que ceux qu'il a l'habitude d'écouter. C'est le web qui fit se rencontrer les quatre membres de Slaene. Rapidement, l'envie de s'enrichir des différences et de créer une musique originale fut rattrapée par une vraie complicité. Influencés par les Rage Against the Machine, Incubus, Pearl Jam, les Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tool, Foo Fighters, Deftones, mais encore Jimi Hendrix et Led Zeppelin, les Slaene se sont naturellement orientés vers le rock fusion, qui leur permet de mêler habilement des rythmes métal à des sonorités funk, et inversement. En Janvier 2008 sort le premier album de Slaene, "Vices Versatiles", dont le fil conducteur est le thème de l'opposition. Mêlés au panache de la musique, les textes traduisent ce mélange doux et explosif qui caractérise Slaene. Afin de partager cet album avec le public, le groupe remonte sur scène, et offre des concerts d'une rare énergie. En 2010, après 2 années de concerts, le groupe retourne en studio avec deux nouvelles chansons dans les valises. De la première, My Goals, en sort le tout premier clip vidéo qui mêle rock, énergie et humour. La seconde chanson, Betrayed, marque un changement dans la musique de SLaeNE, le groupe joue avec des sonorités pop et des mélodies accompagnées d'instruments à cordes. Betrayed est choisit pour l'opening d'une websérie qui sortira second semestre 2010. Meanwhile, Yo, just arrived in Toulouse, was looking for a band to join as a performer and song writer. With nothing but his voice and his pen, he found in writing the best way to express the soft optimism of an otherwise rebel heart. At the same time, JC, a self taught bass player, was looking to explore new musical horizons by performing with musicians inspired by different styles than his. It was on the web that the four Slaene members came to meet. Rapidly, their urge to learn from each other’s differences and create an original style led to a strong musical partnership. Inspired by groups such as Rage Against the Machine, Incubus, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Tool, Foo Fighters, Deftones, as well as the mythic Jimmy Hendrix or Led Zeppelin, Slaene was naturally oriented towards rock fusion in which can come together metal rhythms and funk sounds, or vice versa. In January 2008 came out Slaene’s first album: “Vices Versatiles,” in which the common thread is the meeting of opposites. The spirit of the music blended with the flourish of the lyrics brings out Slaene’s unique mix of gentle and explosive styles. To share this album with audiences, the group returns on stage, offering concerts loaded with energy. In 2010, after two years of concerts, the group goes back to the studio with a couple new songs up the sleeve. From the first, “My Goals”, will emerge SLaeNE’s very first video clip, a mixture of rock, buoyancy and comedy. The second song, “Betrayed”, reveals a turning point in SLaeNE’s music. In this title, the group explores pop sound and melodies and enhances them with strings. “Betrayed” was chosen for the pilot of web serial scheduled to begin in the second semester of 2010.
